Isle of Jura Distillery is situated on an island so remote, it was referred to as ‘the most un-get-at-able place’ by George Orwell. The author famously headed to the island to write his masterpiece, 1984. Rebuilt and fully restored from ruin in 1963, the distillery is situated beside an enormous whirlpool and features a number of incredibly tall stills, setting it apart from rivals in the area.
The single malts created here vary dramatically – there are sweet and mellow options or rich and smoky spirits that are sure to satisfy even the most critical whisky enthusiast.
