Tequila is only produced in 5 regions in Mexico - Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit, Tamaulipas, and Jalisco. To be called tequila, the spirit must be derived from at least 51% of the blue agave, a distinctive plant which provides tequila with its fruity, peppery and spicy flavour combination. Despite being more commonly drank in some countries as a ‘shot’ with salt and lime, Tequila is actually traditionally sipped and savored in its home country.
