Brandy is a spirit produced by distilling fermented fruit or starchy vegetables, however most commonly using grapes. Filled with delicate flavours and aromas, it’s typically drank as an after-dinner beverage. The name ‘brandy’ is of dutch origin "brandewijn," or "burnt wine," which is the warm, glowing feeling evoked from the first sip. Brandy can be aged in wooden casks or coloured with caramel colouring to imitate the same ageing effect.
