Peat smoke & flambé’d banana
Despite its fearsome red skull image, this is actually a pleasingly gentle Islay. No creosote, no tarry ropes, no charred wood, no TCP. Just loads of rich soft peat smoke, with flambé’d banana and other caramelised tropical fruits from the rum barrel aging. For me, this would never challenge Ardbeg Drum, but then, Rum Rebel is half the price.
