Maker’s Mark, a bourbon distilled in Kentucky, is most famous for the distinctive red wax sealed around the bottles. Aged for around six years and bottled when the company’s taste-testers agree that it’s totally ready for sale, the Maker’s Mark distillery also forms part of the famous Kentucky bourbon trail. The distillery here is unique in that it rotates barrels around the ageing warehouses to ensure temperature levels are as even as possible. The barrels stored on the upper floors experience the biggest fluctuations in temperature, but rotating them means that they all end up with a consistent taste and quality.
