Littlemill distillery is one of the few that is situated right on the border of the Lowlands and the Highlands in Scotland. Despite this close call, the products created here are still generally thought of as Lowlands whisky. Littlemill claims 1772 as its foundation year, and ownership passed to Matthew Clark & Co in 1817. The distillery changed hands numerous times over the next century, and was even expanded in the late 19th century.
Despite this long and colourful history, the distillery was dismantled back in the 1990s and the remains were ruined by fire in 2004. The site of the distillery now holds a housing complex.
