Operating just short of a decade, between 1966 and 1975, the Ladyburn Distillery was a short lived operation, yet its produce will remain celebrated for years to come. This exclusive whisky was created after William Grant & Sons ltd acquired two pot stills yet these stills, and the entre malt production area of the distillery was demolished ten years on.
The Ladyburn distillery sits on the same site as the Girvan distillery, also owned by Willian Grant & Sons ltd, and was an expansion of this project. Ladyburn was rather a ‘back up plan’, producing a blended product to come to the rescue of William Grant and his flagship operation, the Glenfiddich distillery. If its single malt whisky was not favoured by the consumers of the time, Ladyburn provided a much-loved blend to act as a reliable staple product.
