The Heering name has a history that is as interesting as it is illustrious. The creation of the famous Cherry Heering liqueur dates all the way back to 1806, when the eventual creator of the brand was given a secret ‘cherry brandy’ recipe by his employer’s wife. Peter F. Heering worked for a colonial goods trader, and used his connections in that industry to get his liqueur (then referred to as ‘cherry cordial’) into ports across the world.
Popularity of the drink soared, and Heering’s son (also named Peter) ended up pulling out of the shipping businesses to concentrate solely on liqueur. The rest, as they say, is history!
