Glenlossie has a rich and complex history that makes it one of the most interesting malt whisky distilleries in Scotland. First off, the facility actually holds two separate distilleries – Mannochmore (built in the 1970s) and Glenlossie. The distillery was founded by John Duff – an intriguing character who flitted in and out of the whisky industry as he pleased.
Eventually, Duff went bankrupt in 1909, and the distillery was snapped up by Distillers Company LTD in 1919.200,000 casks are stored on the site at Glenlossie, and there are six stills in operation across the two distilleries contained within.Glenturret Glenturret was founded in 1775, but it’s said that the distillery had been run by illicit distillers since as early as 1717. These rogues operated illegally to avoid paying tax, and their presence marks the beginning of a colourful and rich history for Glenturret.
