Founded back in 1875, Glenglassaugh closed down in 1986 after a turbulent time, before new owners refurbished and reopened the facility in 2008. Situated just outside the Speyside region, Glenglassaugh was originally owned by James Moir and his two nephews, Alexander and William Morrison – but the distillery was sold to Highland Distillers in 1892 and remained in their position until fairly recently.
Glenglassaugh has been a prominent feature in many blends over the years, with the enduringly popular Famous Grouse and the beloved US whiskey.
Cutty Sark all utilising its facilities. Nowadays, the distillery is owned and operated by The Benriach distillery Company, which also operates facilities at Glendronach and Benriach.
