Girvan distillery was founded back in the 1960s, installing the first Coffee still in 1963. This positioned the facility as one of the most advanced distilleries in the world at the time – and the very first still continues to produce whisky to this very day, more than 50 years on. Situated in South Ayrshire, Scotland, the distillery is currently owned by William Grant & Sons, but hasn’t produced any bottlings since 2013.
The site of the distillery was christened by HRH Prince Charles in 2009 – a real high point for the venue – and it remains at the height of innovation. In 1992, a new type of still was introduced which allowed the facility to carry out MPS distillation – a process which results in a sweeter and fruitier spirit than ever before.
