The Bothy expression is nothing short of Stunning. Even at cask strength one sip and the flavours experienced are wonderful. Add just a drop of water and it changes again, but still one of the most amazing Malt whiskies ever tried.

A number of months ago, I was able to taste the Arran Quarter Cask “The Bothy” Batch 3. It is phenomenal. Arran has now included this in their regular releases, so no batch 4+, but ongoing releases. Tonight’s dram is the first of their permanent Quarter Cask “The Bothy”. I don’t typically get much on the nose, but this has a very refreshing nose – light, citrusy, honeycomb. On the tongue, I get apricots and pineapple, followed by menthol, followed by black pepper, which carries through to the relatively long finish, complimented by vanilla late in the finish. Even after tasting more than 300 single malts, I am still amazed at the flavors that can be drawn from wood. This one is awesome.Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
