Auchentoshan is one of the Lowlands’ last active distilleries, still turning out triple-distilled malt whiskies to satisfy demand. Founded back in 1825 by a group of Irish refugees, the distillery has had six owners in the time since, each one carefully guarding the unique production process and ensuring Auchentoshan retains its reputation for smooth, light single malts.
Located at the base of the Kilpatrick hills near Clydebank, the name of the distillery literally translates as ‘the field of the corner’. Though the distillery has seen extensive refurbishment to ensure it complies with modern standards, the traditional production methods have remained remarkably similar to ensure longstanding fans of Auchentoshan enjoy the same delicious taste as they always have.
