The Glenrothes Editors’ Cask #3828, distilled in 1979, 52.1%
Berry Bros. & Rudd Spirits is delighted to announce the release of a single cask of The Glenrothes; cask number #3828 from 1979.
To date, fewer than one dozen single casks have been released by The Glenrothes; single casks are selected because of their individual personality and are considered a rarity. Two European whisky editors were invited to make the first ever democratic selection of a cask of The Glenrothes. They visited Rothes specifically in order to select a cask in a blind tasting under the watchful eyes of Gordon Motion, Malt Master and Ronnie Cox, Brands Heritage Director.
According to Ronnie Cox; “I was delighted with the selection. This is a genuinely outstanding cask of amazing character and, on behalf of The Glenrothes, I would like to thank Martine and Christian for giving up their time to assist in this arduous process."
Nose: Elegant, delicate but intensely complex. Discreet sherry notes in the back. Later citrus notes, marmalade and Earl Grey tea emerge.
Palate: Crisp with a silken texture. Seville orange and ginger spice.
Finish: Long, soothing with succulent marzipan.
Comment: A single cask bottling of beguiling complexity.
