Glendronach Glendronach Ode to the Dark

Tonight’s dram takes me (virtually) back to one of my most-favorite Scotch distilleries, Glendronach, for a special release from their Master’s Anthology series. Ode to The Dark opens with dark chocolate, black cherry, plump juicy raisins, blackberries, blood orange slices, and ripe blue plums; followed by mocha, spicy ginger, pecan pralines, white pepper, vanilla bean, and charred oak; finishing with blueberries, dark-chocolate-covered coffee beans, fresh mint leaf, and black molasses, with a little black licorice deep in the palate. This is truly an “Ode to The Dark” – everything about it is dark… and yummy… and very complex, with flavor overlaying flavor. This is a masterpiece from Glendronach via PX casks. The thick-clingy legs and light-oily mouthfeel deliver a medium-long finish if dark fruits and chocolates.
