Flavor-packed, complex dram
Tonight, I am tipping the GlenDronach 10 Forgue, which was previously available only in airport shops (“travel retail”). Every GlenDronach I’ve tried has been superb, so my expectations are quite high. The Forgue opens with blood oranges, blackberries, apricots, black cherries, and cinnamon hots, followed by cocoa powder, caramel, orange zest, spicy ginger, roasted nuts, black pepper, and a little dusty hay, then apples, pears, plumbs, raisins, malted barley, nutmeg, vanilla, and honey. Wow! This is one flavor-packed, complex dram – the more you study it, the more flavors pop out of the wood-work (literally from the wood). The oily full mouthfeel and thick-clingy legs delivery a pleasant long spicy fruity oaky finish. The Forgue does not disappoint, even with the uber-high expectations of a GlenDronach.
Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
