On a recent visit to Edinburgh, i asked for a pre-dinner glass of malt, one that was not peaty. This is what I was givien and I loved it so much, my wife bought me a bottle. Result!

This is a great whisky with sherry notes and a good finish. Best with a splash of water to release the flavours, don't use ice!

I had some difficulty finding a bottle of the Blair Athol 12, a particular favourite of mine, for a present. I found it on Whisky World at a very good price. I went to Pitlochry recently and enjoyed a glass of Blair Athol and a glass of Edradour, I now find these two brands my “go to” evening tipple. Very smooth , an ideal evening companion.

Easily one of my favourites for the price. Rich but not over powering fruitcake notes on the nose. Slightly viscous on the pallet, the sherry/fruitcake notes continue balanced with hints of oak and vanilla with a smooth subtle finish.

Hidden gem of whisky. Nothing else comes close to this. If you havn't tried it you are missing something very special.
