They set the bar very high with their first dram
Tonight’s dram takes me (virtually) to the Speyside region of Scotland, to the new unique-looking Ardgowan distillery, just outside Glasgow.
The cask-strength 12-year-old Official Opening 2025 from the Clydebuilt series opens with spicy fruit cake (dried cherries, honeyed pecans, raisins, dates, dried apricots, and figs) and dark chocolate; followed by cinnamon coated almonds, spicy ginger, and toasted oak; finishing with spicy ginger, more dark chocolate, and dessert sherry. Made specifically for a cold damp winter evening with a crackling fire in the fireplace, not only is the new distillery’s opening dram aged a full 12 years, but is fantastic. They set the bar very high with their first dram.
Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
